What is a CMR?
The CMR consignment note is the international consignment note for cross-border road freight transport. It is based on the CMR Convention (Geneva, 1956) and accompanies the shipment as proof of the Freight contract, which takeover of the goods and their Condition. It is usually issued in three originals – for the sender, the consignee and the carrier.
The fields are numbered in a standardized way (boxes 1–24). This tool captures the most important boxes in a structured form; the following overview explains all fields:
